A TRUE INVOLVEMENT IN THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR
Interview with Véronique Stevens, volunteer at Chemins d’Enfances
What drove you to get involved as a volunteer in Chemins d’Enfances ?
Becoming a volunteer in an association came quite naturally to me since I worked for 10 years as a paid employee in an association. I felt I could offer some time and skills.
Why Chemins d’Enfances? It is because of my encounter with the president of the association, who stands up for associative values as much as for her experience as an entrepreneur and who gave me the opportunity to participate in the creation of this new association.
Do you come regularly to the association ? Since when ?
I have devoted 3 days a week to the association for 6 months.
Is it possible for a volunteer to have a real function?
Absolutely, I am a full member of the association in terms of sharing experience. I participate in all meetings and I am asked for advice when discussing the association’s direction. This role in the association encourages me to be even more involved in this project.
How do you benefit from being a volunteer at Chemins d’Enfances ?
I am very happy to be part of a team, especially such a close one, in which a true spirit of solidarity prevails. The aim of Chemins d’Enfances is the greater well-being of children in difficulty and this is a particularly touching topic. I have discovered the projects and the people who put a lot of themselves into them, and these exchanges are very rich in human and emotional terms. My work is very uplifting and has a great deal of meaning for me.
